WHY EVs AND PRP?

The regenerative potential of PRP has been documented for years. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma therapy uses the body’s own platelets and growth factors derived from the blood to aid in healing and regeneration.

It can be used in both orthopedics and aesthetics.

EVs already exist in the blood and are known to elicit cellular communication. The proteins and genetic material they carry can have a great impact on biological pathways. Adding them back to a PRP treatment creates the most complete PRP possible.

What are extracellular vesicles?

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are small biomolecule messengers that are released from cells (especially from stem cells) as a tiny membrane bound bubble.

EVs act as shuttles of important cargo such as growth factors and genetic material such as micro RNA.

This cargo can be passed from one cell to another allowing cells to communicate impacting cellular pathways of healing, inflammation, and tissue regeneration.

Is PRP treatment safe?

PRP treatments are autologous, meaning that the biological material being used comes from you.
With that being said there is no chance of an allergy or immune response and no concern for transmittable diseases.

Are PRP treatments painful?

There is a chance that you will experience mild to moderate pain and discomfort with a PRP treatment. This can also be dependent on the area or site being treated.

It is also worth noting that individuals heal differently and your experience with PRP will be unique to you.

How fast does PRP work?

PRP therapy does not work in the same way as a drug does to alleviate pain or symptoms. Instead, PRP instigates a natural regenerative process that can take weeks to months to see full results and effectiveness.

How long does PRP last?

There is evidence of the effectiveness of PRP treatments lasting from several months to years.

Effectiveness is also dependent on the area and condition being treated. And since your regenerative ability is unique to you, results can vary from person to person.

What areas can I get PRP treatments on?

PRP treatments can be applied to a full spectrum of conditions.

In orthopedics and sports medicine it can be used for joint, ligament, muscle, tendon, and bone injuries.

Plastic surgeons have been known to use PRP for wound healing following cosmetic surgery and to promote connective tissue growth in the face to smooth wrinkles and fine lines.

Dermatologists use it for hair growth and micro-needling.

PRP also has applications for men's and women's sexual health.

Is PRP expensive?

The cost for PRP treatments can vary by the condition and area being treated and can generally range from $500-$2000.

What can I expect from my SuperShot procedure?

If you have undergone a standard PRP treatment, a SuperShot PRP treatment will be no different.

However, if SuperShot PRP will be your first experience with PRP therapy you can first expect a blood draw to be taken from your arm. The volume of blood required will be specific to the condition and area you are treating.

Next, your blood will be centrifuged to obtain a platelet-rich fraction. The SuperShot PRP process will then be applied to the remaining platelet-poor plasma, which is a standard PRP procedure, is generally considered to be a byproduct.

After an additional 1 minute spin, your extracellular vescicles are isolated from the platelet-poor fraction and added back to your PRP for the most complete PRP therapy.

The SuperShot PRP is then injected into your area of injury by your physician.

Will insurance cover PRP?

Most insurance plans do not cover PRP therapy, but checking with your individual provider is highly advised.
